Voters across the country are heading to the polls today for a slew of key off-cycle races, including governor's races in New Jersey and Virginia and the New York City mayoral election.

As of 6 p.m., about 1.85 million people, including early voters and mail-in voters, had cast ballots to decide the hotly contested race among Zohran Mamdani, Andrew M. Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa. Polls close at 9 p.

The New York City mayoral election is Tuesday but according to several major online betting markets, the game is over, with Zohran Mamdani the runaway favorite.

Former N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has a long list of accomplishments, many of them progressive. In the race for New York City mayor, that experience hasn't given him the boost he wanted.
