Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as a Category 5 storm Tuesday afternoon, with winds stronger than Hurricane Katrina.

Hurricane Melissa is now among the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes on record.

It is expected to slice diagonally across the island, entering near St. Elizabeth parish in the south and exiting around St. Ann parish in the north, before heading for Cuba.
