Hurricane Melissa, a devastating Category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 160 mph as of Monday morning, Oct. 27, is nearing Jamaica.

Hurricane Melissa, the strongest storm of the year, is "about to make landfall" in Jamaica, the National Hurricane Center said.

It is expected to slice diagonally across the island, entering near St. Elizabeth parish in the south and exiting around St. Ann parish in the north, before heading for Cuba.
