According to FBS Schedules, the Roadrunners have added UT-Rio Grande Valley to their 2026 football schedule, hosting the Vaqueros at the Alamodome on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026. The Vaqueros will receive $350,000 guaranteed for playing in the game.

Quarterback Jake Retzlaff said Tulane would treat every remaining game as a championship contest, beginning with Thursday night's trip to Texas-San Antonio, as it tries to stay on top of the American Conference and reach all of its preseason goals.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley football program is roping in some tougher competition. FBSchedules.com reports the Vaqueros will take on the University of Texas San Antonio next year.
