Trick-or-treaters should expect winds of 15-25 mph with gusts as high as 50, according to the National Weather Service. “Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects,” the National Weather Service went on to say. “Tree limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result.

While light showers are expected Friday morning, the National Weather Service reports, Connecticut will only have partly cloudy skies by the time people are trick-or-treating.

Winds will pick up during the day on Thursday, with a westerly breeze peaking in the afternoon at 15 to 35 mph for most inland areas and up to 45 mph along the shoreline. Scattered power outages are possible, but the lack of foliage on many trees this time of year should prevent any widespread outages due to downed trees.

A Stage 2 drought advisory “is an awareness stage, identifying an emerging drought event that could potentially impact water supplies, agriculture, and natural ecosystems. It is the second of five levels under the Connecticut Drought Preparedness and Response Plan, with Stage 1 being the lowest and Stage 5 the most extreme,” according to Lamont.

While Friday will be a drier day, it will stay breezy with wind gusts up to 35 mph for many inland towns and up to 40 mph along the shoreline. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 50s during the day, but will cool off fairly quickly after sunset.
