The South Tucson Community Outreach is a program providing free food boxes to community members in South Tucson — a one-square-mile city within the city limits of Tucson proper.

A Dallas church and its nonprofit are helping families during the ongoing federal government shutdown and the expected delay of SNAP benefits.
The program will provide monthly boxes filled with shelf-stable nutritious items, including milk, canned meats, fruits and vegetables, rice, pasta, and beans.
Meanwhile, the nonprofit Vegas Helps is launching a major emergency food effort. Starting Monday, the group will distribute more than $20,000 worth of pre-packaged food boxes to SNAP-eligible households across the valley through its program VegasFoodBoxes.com.
Salvation Army will provide holiday meals including turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, bread and butter for local families.
The government shutdown has frozen SNAP funding for 42 million Americans. Food banks warn shelves are emptying fast as states struggle to fill the gap.
